after reading that article, i somewhat agree but i also don't fully accept it. they claim that it's solely asian influences but that's not the case. you have a whole breed of what we see in our daily lives and people feed off of our stereotypes.
i think aang was well suited but this is how american movies often go into marketing. white people tend to dominate the silver screen and leave hispanics and asians in the muddled area of background characters. the only time asians get a lead role is only in kung fuu movies and hispanics get their highlit from.. well, not much. sure, we get our own month and even a few sidekick roles in tv shows, but where are we really mentioned? i have yet to see a box office hit that doesn't involve a person of hispanic blood as the main character. and no, SELENA DOESN'T FUCKING COUNT. that shit movie makes me want to cringe everytime i see it! i just don't understand as to why we can't let everyone get their turn. everyone needs a time to shine and do justice for their own race every once in a while.
